Home News February 2010 - Automated cash registers in Edeka

After a tour of Alberta Heijn, Service Plus’s customers had the opportunity to visit Edeka Center in Dusseldorf, and feel the atmosphere of shopping in stores where in the middle of buying can sit down to rest and lunch in one of the few restaurants, to taste wine, or coffee. Everything is very tastefully designed - sushi restaurant is located, for example, in the department of fish, and wine is located near the cheese. Electronic self label system that is used for marking the price installed throughout the store, and provides that all price changes within one hour.

Digital signage displays can also be seen throughout the store - from those small on scales to large LCD screens on the walls which are constantly emit the appropriate content depending on where they are placed. On the cheese department, for example, the display shows the recipe for lasagna. These displays can also show special promotions and products. Working with money at the box office of this store is fully automated – treasurer insert money in the automaton that checks and returns the value of banknotes and customer change. This cash management system is connected to the „Back Office“ and we know the situation at any time. Work with the money is minimal. The entire payment process is faster, safer, and the possibility of error is significantly reduced.
