Long product lifecycle and future proof store application

TP.net has been built consequently on standard technologies and concepts, including, for example, the data model defined by the Association for Retail Standard technologies (ARTS), XML as the standard data communication mechanism, Microsoft .NET as the implementation standard or the standard retail peripheral control concept OPOS (OLE for POS). In conjunction with these technologies TP.net has a long product life cycle. Moreover the achieved technological standardization ensures compatibility with later releases (including integration of new technologies.

Easy to handle, reduced Total Cost of Ownership, fast Return-on-Investment

Robustness, business rule plug ins, easy-to-use – these characteristics allow TP.net to be easily adapted to today’s and tomorrows retail business process requirements. In combination with TP.net’s various integration facilities a seamless and easy deployment in a retailer’s organization is ensured. TP.net’s ergonomic user interface, training facilities and help system reduce training and learning efforts and help to minimize operating errors. These above-mentioned characteristics lead to reduced total cost of ownership, protect a retailer’s IT investment and support a fast return- on-investment.

Openness and Flexibility

TP.net owns a multi-tiered software architecture which separates the user interface from business functions and technical services. As a result of this TP.net’s user interface elements such as report, receipt and screen layouts can be easily adapted to specific business requirements without affecting the business functionality itself.

The component-based software- architecture transfers the plug & play concept, familiar from the hardware to a software solution. The main benefit of this is that extensions do not have impact on existing business rule components unless they relate directly to these components. The so achieved flexibility helps retailers to map their business functions and processes without being forced to give up advantages which are associated with deployment of a standard software product.

IT-Integration on various levels

Seamless integration of a store application in existing and new IT landscapes is crucial for retailers to achieve information transparency from end-to-end. To support different data communication concepts TP.net offers different data exchange facilities. For instance, the data can be made available to any system by export at a defined point of time or realtime based on individual transactions.

Remote business rule access via TP.net Remote Command Engine

The Remote Command Engine offers a simple but elegant and standardized mechanism to access TP.net’s functionality out of a given graphical user interface remotely. As a result of this other store solutions such as self-checkout systems or kiosk applications can easily reuse the retailers standard sales functionalities as well as TP.net’s excellent data exchange facilities. By this retailers can introduce additional instore checkout and sales concepts to increase customer service without increasing the store IT complexity or initiating redundant business rule implementation activities.

Maximum scalability for various retail formats

It is possible, to run TP.net either in a client/server configuration with a dedicated server and dedicated POS clients (up to 200 POS clients and one dedicated server system) or to run TP.net on a so called non dedicated server system, an application configuration variant which combines Frontstore functionality, Backstore application and transaction processing on one central processing unit. A non dedicated server system can serve up to 10 dedicated POS clients. TP.net thus can be installed in small retail organizations, chain stores with small branches and large or very large retail formats.

TP-net Promotion Engine: Flexible and comprehensive handling of discounts & promotions

TP.net’s promotion engine provides a variety of discount methods enabling retail organizations to pursue a differentiated policy when it comes to terms and conditions to create easily targeted and flexible promotions. The discounts are automatically identified by the frontstore system.
